Description
The Red Barn, located immediately southwest of The Guildhall in the courtyard, is a barn or general storehouse dating from the early 16th century, though it has undergone significant alterations and repairs. The structure is built of brick and features a pantile roof. It is rectangular and free-standing, with a single storey. On the south side, there is a patch of original brickwork that includes an 8-light diamond-mullioned timber window with a King mullion; however, half of this window is bricked over and the other half is blocked. The north side primarily consists of 18th-century brickwork, and the roof is hipped. Inside, the roof features tie beams, nailed clasped purlins, and collars.
