Description
These are a pair of cottages, numbers 4 and 5, located on Nursteed Road, known as The Island. They were likely built around 1830. The cottages are constructed of red brick with a gable-ended slate roof and an eaves band. A brick plinth runs along the base. Each cottage has one window per floor, featuring recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars, stone block sills, and flat stone arches. Recessed doors are located at each end of the pair; number 4 has a door with four flush panels, while number 5 has a door with three moulded panels, both with flat stone arches matching the windows. Numbers 3 to 10 on The Island form a significant group when viewed across Devizes Green.
