Description

The Bell Inn is a late 18th-century building located on Estcourt Street. It is two storeys high and faced with Bath stone. The central sign panel displays the inscription "Wines, Spirits and Ales" along with a painting of a large bell and the motto "Fear God and Honour the Queen." There is a first-floor string course, a narrow cornice, and a parapet with coping that conceals the gable end slate roof.

The right side of the front features two shallow bows, each with two lights and a central mullion, containing sashes with intact glazing bars on both floors. The first-floor windows are adorned with bold curved wire lattice flower guards. The central panel between the bows likely indicates a former doorway on the ground floor.

On the left side of the front, stone piers extend into a frieze, with the first-floor sill course breaking forward over them. There are three recessed sash windows with glazing bars set in wide panels. The ground floor has paired windows with stone mullions, one of which has been converted into a bar door. The main entrance is located in a slightly projecting bay, where the sill course is also broken. It features a recessed door with six panels, two of which are glazed, and a window above in a slight rectangular recess.
