Description

Nos 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 Doncaster Road are a row of cottages built in the early 19th century. At the time of the last survey in 1987, they were undergoing renovation. The cottages are constructed of red brick with an English garden wall bond and feature stone slate eaves courses beneath a pantile roof. They are two stories tall and have six windows on the first floor.

Number 3, located on the left, has a four-panel door in a wooden frame beneath a segmental brick arch, alongside an enlarged two-light horizontally-sliding sash window with glazing bars, also beneath a segmental brick arch. There is a smaller window in the same style on the first floor. Numbers 5, 7, and 9 are similar, with number 7 having an enlarged ground-floor window, while the windows of numbers 5 and 9 remain original. Number 11 is similar as well but has its door on the right side and an addition beyond it, indicated by a straight joint. This addition features a blind doorway to the right of the windows, which match the rest of the row. The cottages have dentilled eaves and a hipped roof with five ridge stacks. The rear of the cottages is generally unaltered and maintains the same style as the front. This row is particularly well-preserved.
