Description
Pond Tail Lodge and gates is an early 19th-century lodge for the Bowood estate. It is constructed from squared rubble stone and features a half-hipped stone slate roof that extends over an open verandah supported by four timber posts. The building is single storey with an attic and has flush quoins. The rear wall stack has been rebuilt and includes triple diagonal shafts. Within the verandah, there is a six-panel door flanked by 20th-century metal windows, all set in flush stone surrounds. The end walls have metal casements on each floor. The rear roof extends over a brick lean-to. The lodge is accompanied by attached ashlar gatepiers, which support iron gates and a pedestrian gate.
