Description
Kennels Lodge is a lodge for the Bowood estate, built around 1840-1850. It is constructed from rubble stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has coped gables topped with heraldic finials and an altered central ridge stack. It is one and a half storeys tall and designed in a Tudor style, showcasing leaded stone mullion windows.
On the west side, there are two eaves shouldered dormer gables with 2-light windows. The ground floor features a 1-2-1-light stone oriel window to the left and a 2-light window with a hoodmould to the right. To the right, there is a gabled single-storey extension that matches the main style, complete with a south end stack and a west-facing 2-light window.
The north end, facing the drive, has a gable plaque, an upper 2-light window with a hoodmould, and a ground floor triple-arched projecting stone porch with a parapet. Inside, there is a 2-light window with a hoodmould and a Tudor-arched doorway. The rear of the lodge includes a gabled wing, likely added later, which is in a similar style. The original dormer gable has a 2-light window above a 3-light ground floor window to the right.
