Description
Northend Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located on the Bowood estate. It is constructed from squared ironstone rubble and features a thatched half-hipped roof with a stack on the east side that has paired diagonal shafts. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and exhibits a picturesque style, characterized by stone mullion windows and small-pane iron casements. The south end wall includes a 2-light window situated above a stone-slate lean-to supported by timber posts, which is gabled in front of the door. On the west side, there is an eyebrow over a 2-light window, along with ground floor 2-light and 3-light windows. The thatched cottages along Sandy Lane represent an outstanding example of an estate village designed in the picturesque manner.
