Description
The Lodge is an early 19th-century cottage located on the Bowood estate, constructed from squared rubble stone. It features a half-hipped stone slate roof with decorative fretted barge boards and has a south side wall stack. The cottage is designed in a picturesque style, comprising a single storey and an attic. The west end facing the road includes a 1-3-1-light stone mullioned canted bay window and a 2-light mullion window with a hoodmould above. On the north side, there are two similar 2-light windows flanking a central door set in a flush stone surround. A hipped lean-to verandah supported by timber posts extends across the center and right side of the cottage. The thatched cottages of Sandy Lane nearby exemplify the character of an estate village in the picturesque style.
