Description
Home Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on the Bowood estate. It is constructed from squared rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with stacks that have five octagonal shafts. The building is two storeys high and has a double pile plan, showcasing picturesque Tudor details.
The façade includes large stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds and leaded lights. The upper windows are set beneath shallow coped and shouldered eaves gables, each adorned with shield plaques. On the left side, there are three 3-light windows on both floors, while the right side features a 3-light window on the first floor above a canted bay with a 1-3-1-light configuration.
A central gabled ashlar porch, which also has a shield plaque, is designed with depressed arches on three sides. At the rear, there are two 3-light windows with hoodmoulds on each floor, along with a central door. The farmhouse has gabled extensions at each end; the south extension includes a 2-light ovolo-moulded mullion window at the front, while the north extension features a 2-light ovolo-moulded upper window above two 2-light windows with hoodmoulds, matching the mouldings of the main house.
A house has been marked on this site since the 1760s, referred to as the Lodge on a map from 1763.
