Description
The Buy monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard by the north wall of the chancel of the Church of St Peter. It dates from the mid-18th century and features two shield plaques on each side, fluted angle piers, and a floral-decorated centre pier. The tomb has a moulded base and cornice, which is broken forward over the piers. The west plaque displays a shield, while the east end has a cartouche inscribed with "Memento Mori." The monument includes an inscription dedicated to Ann Buy, who died in 1763.
