Description

The monument to members of the Joy family is a chest tomb located about 11 metres south of the south transept of the Church of St. Peter in Boughton Monchelsea. This mid-19th century structure is made of stone and rests on a moulded plinth. It features a moulded cornice and un-gadrooned side pilasters, with plain inscription panels. The tomb is set on a tooled stone base and is surrounded by spear-head railings that have fluted newels. The inscription on the south side commemorates Thomas Joy, who died in 1851.
