Description
Great Cotmarsh Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with a wide wing added around 1840, which is believed to have replaced an earlier house. The main block features Flemish bond brickwork with vitrified headers and flush stone quoins, topped with a stone slate roof. The wing is constructed of brick and has a Welsh slate roof. The main block is thought to be the cross wing of the original house and contains two reception rooms with a stair hall in between. The wing consists of two rooms, arranged in two bays with a central narrow hall. The main block has later wood casement windows and sash windows, lacking a principal facade. The wing features 20-pane sash windows with brick flat gauged arches and a later 19th-century lattice porch. Inside, the main block has a staircase with good 18th-century turned balusters and a moulded rail. The first-floor ceiling beams have toothed swept stops, and there is panelling along with a bolection moulded fire surround. The parlour includes a panelled dado.
