Description

Hampton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to the 19th century. It features English-bond brickwork with a glass-slag block plinth and a tiled roof, while the left wing has Flemish-bond brickwork and a slate roof. The building consists of a three-window main block that is two rooms deep and a two-window wing that is one room deep, both standing two storeys high.

The entrance front faces away from the farmyard, with the main block on the right displaying symmetrical openings that are slightly offset to the left. The half-glazed front door is topped with a three-pane rectangular fanlight and has a flat hood with a moulded edge supported by wrought-iron brackets. On either side of the door, there is a sash window with a cambered head and a cambered brick arch above. The first floor features three 9-pane sash windows, also with cambered brick arches. The building has oversailing brick eaves and a hipped roof that conceals an 'M' roof behind, with gables on the rear wall. The chimney is located on the right return and on both gables.

The left wing is set back and has a ground floor covered lean-to that is open on the right, supported by a timber post, with a brick wall on the left. The roof of the lean-to is partially glazed on the right, above a three-light casement window on the wall behind. There is a boarded door to the left of the window and another on the left return of the main block. Above the lean-to, there are two 4-pane sash windows with a cambered brick arch. The left wing features brick oversailing eaves, a hipped roof, and a lateral chimney at the rear. The left wing also has a stone plinth at the rear, which may indicate 19th-century rebuilding of a part of the house that is older than the current main block.
