Description
Middle Moorcroft Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with alterations made in the mid to late 20th century. The main block features timber framing that is covered in render, resting on a stone plinth, while the rear wing is constructed of random rubble with thin stones. The roof is tiled, with slate used for the lean-to.
The farmhouse has a three-bay front and is two storeys tall, with a single-bay rear wing that is two and a half storeys high and includes a lean-to at the angle. The front of the building, which faces away from the approach, has ground floor windows and a porch that were added in the mid to late 20th century. On the right side, there is a two-light wooden casement window, a single-storey lean-to porch to the left, and double French doors leading to a half-glazed late 19th-century door. A single-light window is located on the left side at the end of the lean-to against the left gable. On the first floor, there is a single-light window and a two-light casement window from the 19th century.
A ridge chimney is positioned one bay from the right, featuring three diamond-set flues made of brick. The left return has a lean-to against the gable on the right and a large, projecting brick chimney in the center of the gable, which has offsets at the first-floor level and two diamond-set flues above. There is a four-pane window to the right on the first floor and a six-pane window to the left on the ground floor. The rear wing, made of stone on the left, has no openings. The interior of the farmhouse is not accessible.
