Description
Rookery Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the early 16th century, with additions from the early 18th century and around 1960. It is constructed of colourwashed stone and brick, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, featuring a cross wing on the left that was originally timber framed and now serves as the kitchen.
Inside, the layout includes a central stair hall with a parlour on the left and a sitting room on the right. The entrance features a central six-panelled door with a moulded timber canopy above it. The windows are sixteen-paned sash windows. Notable interior features include an elaborately moulded spine beam and moulded cross beams in the left parlour, along with a stack backing onto the stair hall. The staircase dates from the early 19th century. The right bay contains a large blocked fireplace in the gable wall, which has a timber lintel, and there is a chamber to the right that once had access from the exterior.
