Description
Ardgowan Carina is a house that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and is constructed with a timber frame and brick noggings on greensand sills. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of 3½ bays. It originally had a lobby entry plan with a living hall to the south, an inner room, and a parlour with a chamber above to the north, along with a narrow framed part-bay in the gable. The framing features two panels high with corner braces and straight tension braces. There are various timber windows, a raised dormer at the front, two flush dormers at the rear, and a small dormer in the north hipped gable. The roof is half hipped to the south, and there are 20th-century lean-to extensions at both ends. The interior has not been seen.
