Description

URCHFONT UPHILL SU 0557 (east side) 11/240 Nos 1 and 2 (Ardgowan & Carina) 4.5.82 II House, now two cottages. Late C17 or early C18. Timber framed with brick noggings on greensand sills. Single storey and attic, 3½ bays. Originally lobby entry plan with living hall to south and inner room, and parlour with chamber over to north, and narrow framed part-bay in gable. Framing 2 panels high with corner braces and straight tension braces. Various timber windows. Raised dormer to front and two flush dormers to rear, small dormer in north hipped gable. Roof half hipped to south. C20 lean-to extension at both ends. Interior not seen.
