Description
Red Hone Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Urchfont. It features a timber frame with colourwashed brick noggings and a rendered exterior, topped with a thatched roof. The cottage is single storey with an attic and consists of three bays. The central bay is heated and has a parlour to the left, which includes an added stack, while a wider service room is located behind the stack. The entrance is marked by a central half-glazed door, and there are timber casement windows along with three flush dormers.
Inside, there is a deep chamfered spine beam in the central bay and an open fireplace with a timber lintel, although further details of the interior were not observed. A second dwelling was added in the 20th century behind the right gable, but it is not of special interest.
