Description
These are a group of late 18th and early 19th century buildings, numbered 9 to 15, on the east side of Catherine Street. The fronts are of gault brick, with some painted, and number 13 has a mathematical tile front. Parapets conceal the roofs of all the buildings. Numbers 9 and 11 have a wooden frieze and cornice, number 13 has a moulded cornice, and number 15 has a plain brick parapet with a projecting cornice. Each building has two windows on the upper floors. The upper floors have recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars, except at number 9 and on the second floor of number 15. Number 13 has flush framed sash windows with keystones. Triangular steel-framed bays have been inserted on the first floor of numbers 11 and 13 (which share the same premises). Number 9 retains remains of a late 19th-century shop front and a six-panel house door. The other ground floors have modern shop fronts. Numbers 7 to 9 form a group.
