Description
14 Catherine Street is a late 18th-century building featuring three storeys. The ground floor is made of painted brick, while the upper floor is covered with mathematical tiles. The building has a gable end roof with old tiles and an eaves band. The upper floors display symmetrical window arrangements, with three flush framed sash windows. The outer windows on the first floor are taller and have rubbed flat brick arches, while the central first-floor window is a wide canted bay with sash lights, a moulded surround, and a lead tent roof apron. All glazing bars are intact.
On the ground floor, from left to right, there is one sash window with panelled shutters, a recessed six-panel door with a three-pane rectangular fanlight, and an early 19th-century double shop front. The shop front has two windows with seven panes by three panes, with one pane turned in for the door, and some hinged panes. The central double glazed doors are framed by panelled pilasters with acanthus ornamentation on the caps. A plain frieze and moulded cornice run across the front of the building.
