Description
30 Catherine Street is an early 19th-century building that has been recased from a 16th-century timber frame. It stands two storeys high with an attic gable at the front, featuring mathematical tiles and new brick in the gable. The roof has a steep pitch with old tiles, and the south side has a longer pitch. The attic includes a small six-pane window with a flush frame and an ogee-shaped board above the lintel. On the first floor, there is a flush-framed sash window with a similar lintel board and a plain wood entablature that has a curved top. The building also has a late 19th-century shop front with heavy fluted pilasters, and the entrance is set across the corner. The side elevation leading to the passage features a first-floor slate-clad overhang. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 26 to 40 (even) and Nos 46 to 54 (even).
