Description
39 Newborough is a mid to late 18th century building that stands three storeys tall and is constructed of painted brick. It features a steeply pitched gable end roof covered with old tiles and has a projecting moulded dentil cornice. The upper floors have three slightly recessed framed sash windows with cambered heads, brick arches, and console keystones. The ground floor has an altered mid-19th century shop front that retains flanking pilasters and long brackets supporting the cornice above. To the right, there is a passage door. Inside, the first-floor front room includes fielded panelling with a dado and a niche surrounded by an architrave. The open string staircase retains some original balusters, although it has been altered. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 31, 32, and 34 to 43 Newborough, along with No 3 King Street.
