Description

A freestanding overthrow, dating from 1828, stands in front of the entrance to the Red Lion Hotel. It is a large cast iron structure featuring a flattened arch ornamented with scrollwork. The arch is supported by lamp post-style shafts which have panelled, square section bases. The overthrow forms a group with numbers 4 to 16 (even) on Milford Street and numbers 1 and 3 on Catherine Street.
