Description

The buildings at 14 and 16 Milford Street, including the portion facing Brown Street, date to the later 18th century and were restored and modernised. They are constructed of plum-coloured brick with grey brick headers on the Brown Street facade. A toothed brick cornice runs along the eaves, and the roof is a Mansard style covered in new tiles, featuring two attic dormer windows.

The Milford Street front has four windows on the first floor, featuring sash windows with architrave frames and renewed glazing bars. The ground floor has modern shop windows in a Regency style. The Brown Street facade has four windows and a central panel on the first floor, and displays a Sun Life Insurance plaque. Ground floor shop windows mirror those on Milford Street. An early 19th century door with four flush panels, a rectangular five-pane fanlight, and a flat moulded hood is situated on the left-hand side.

The buildings form a group with numbers 4 to 16 (even) on Milford Street and with numbers 1 and 3 Catherine Street. They also combine with numbers 14 to 22 (even) on Brown Street.
