Description

Numbers 9 to 15, Salt Lane form a row of buildings dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. Numbers 11 and 13 retain their original fabric from the 17th century. Numbers 9 and 15 were built in the early 19th century. The buildings are of painted brick construction; number 9 has a rendered front. They have a common gable end with an old tile roof. Number 9 features two first-floor windows with pointed heads, two-light casements using "Gothic" glazing that break through the eaves. An altered window and a door are present on the ground floor. Numbers 11 and 13 have three windows to the first floor, with flush framed sash windows. The ground floor has a shop front installed in the early 19th century, featuring a four-light window flanked by pilasters with heavy brackets above a fascia. Number 15 has a flush framed sash window to the first floor and a small shop front from the early to mid-19th century on the ground floor, with a two-light window, flanking pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, alongside a four-panel door set within a thin pilaster case with a frieze and projecting cornice. The interiors of numbers 11 and 13 contain some original beams. Numbers 9 to 15 form a group of buildings when considered together.
