Description

WEST DEAN TYTHERLEY ROAD SU 22 NE (west side) 11/163 Barn at Pilgrim's Croft GV II

Barn. C17. Timber framed and weatherboarded on brick sills. Tiled roof. Five bays with central midstrey, aisle on west and lean-to offices added to east side either side of porch. Aisle has 1.8m brick outer wall. Roof extends over 1 bay stable at south end, with loft over having a gable loading door. Roof hipped. Internally, tie beam trusses with collars and 2 tiers butt purlins. North of midstrey single purlins, perhaps a partial rebuild. Reverse curved braces to posts and plates, two posts selected malformed timber. Much reused timber. Group value with farmhouse, outbuildings and cottage listed in Hampshire, Test Valley district, parish of West Tytherley (qq.v).
