Description
The barn at Pilgrim House is a late 17th-century structure located on Bacton Coast Road. It is built from whole flints with brick dressings and features a thatched roof. The barn has a three-stead construction with entrances on opposite sides; the southern entrance is under a transeptal extension that has been significantly altered in the 20th century. The northern side has double doors with an overlight above, along with vertical ventilation slits. There is a 19th-century brick buttress on the north side. The gabled roof has gable heads resting on kneelers and is supported by tie beams, principal rafters, and two tiers of butt purlins. The roof also includes collars on straight braces and curved windbracing. Inside, the ventilation slits are splayed with brick dressings.
