Description

Number 41 is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted coursed limestone rubble with freestone dressings, featuring a quoin to the left and a plinth to the bay. The roof is covered with triple-Roman tiles and has a sweep at the eaves, with a stone ridge stack that has a brick shaft located to the left of center. The building has a two-unit plan and a rear wing to the right.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The first-floor windows are cyma-moulded stone-mullioned windows, with a three-light window on the left and a two-light window on the right, both fitted with 19th-century plate-glass sash windows. On the ground floor, there is a 2/2-pane sash window to the right and a 19th-century six-panel door, which is glazed at the top, in a plain opening to the far left. Additionally, on the inside left, there is a projecting slightly splayed bay that features a three-light shop window with timber mullions, a transom, and a fascia, possibly from the early 20th century.

Attached to the left corner of the house is a low squared rubblestone wall with chamfered capping, along with a chamfered freestone gate pier that has a cornice and a stepped pyramidal top, situated in front of the Causeway Methodist Church.
