Description
No. 33 The Causeway is a house dating from the early 18th century. It features a facade made of limestone rubble, with Flemish-bond brick on the left side. The roof is a steeply-pitched double-Roman tile gambrel style, with brick stacks at the gable ends. The house has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, presenting an almost symmetrical two-window arrangement. The former windows had painted freestone architraves and were originally ogee-moulded two-light stone mullioned windows, although the mullions have now been removed. The current windows are 20th-century replacements, with two-light, two-pane casements on the first floor and plate-glass on the ground floor. The entrance features a 20th-century door with a raised surround and a hood supported by brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
