Description
The building is a former range of stables and carriage house, now serving as a doctors' surgery and annexe, dating from around 1860 and altered in the 1970s. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a Welsh slate roof and is designed in an L-plan, with the former carriage house positioned at right angles to the stables. The structure is single storey.
The front facing the road features a top-hung 20th-century casement window in the former carriage house, with a smaller 20th-century casement window to the left in the stable range. The northeast gable of the stables has an inserted top-hung 20th-century casement and a 20th-century door, both with transom lights. The rear of the stable range has four blocked doorways, now partly filled with 20th-century top-hung casements, but still retaining transom lights, along with a planked stable door with a transom light to the left. The right section includes a small round-arched opening with a slot for a ramp, which was formerly used for a hen house in the loft, and the ground floor has a blocked segmental-headed opening that was once a kennel or piggery, along with two arched openings in the gabled dovecote on the roof. The former carriage house to the left has partly blocked arched openings that have been fitted with casements and French windows. The interior has been converted for its new use, and original fittings have been removed.
