Description

This is an early 19th-century house, now used as a doctor’s surgery and flat, with an earlier range to the rear. The rear range dates to 1730, as inscribed above the entrance: "J.J.R. 1730". The front of the building is finished with incised stucco, featuring dentilled cornices, V-jointed quoins on a moulded plinth, and a graduated slate roof with brick chimney stacks. It is three storeys high, with four bays, one of which is a bay over an archway. A further three bays extend to the rear, creating an L-shape and connecting to an earlier two-storey, two-bay house, which now functions as an outbuilding. The main entrance has a six-panel door set within a reeded pilaster surround and entablature, topped with a dentilled cornice. A large canted bay window is positioned to the right. The segmental archway is faced with alternating blocks and has a false keystone. Sash windows are set within painted stone architraves, with those on the first floor featuring dentilled cornices. The rear extension utilizes incised cement-rendered walls and a Welsh slate roof, with panelled doors in painted stone surrounds and sash windows with glazing bars. The earlier house features a top-glazed six-panel door within a chamfered surround, beneath an inscribed and dated lintel. It also has sash windows, with those on the upper floor being Yorkshire sashes.
