Description

The Manor House is a detached house dated to the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid- and late-19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a thatched roof, gable-end brick stacks, and coped verges. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with a three-window front. A central 4-panelled door is set within a 19th-century porch featuring a castellated parapet. Flanking the door are 16-pane tripartite sash windows. The first floor has a central 16-pane sash flanked by tripartite sashes. Three dormers light the attic space, each containing a 2-light or single-light casement window.

To the right of the main body of the house is a single-storey range with a 5-light casement window on the ground floor and a large eyebrow attic dormer featuring a 5-light casement. The roof of this range is hipped to the right. The right return has a 3-light casement window on the ground floor. The left return is rendered and features French windows to the left, alongside a 2-light and a single-light casement window. Elaborate lead rainwater goods are present, including a hopper bearing the Royal Arms and the initials VR with a rampant lion and unicorn, likely erected in 1837 to coincide with the Coronation and alongside a rear parallel range.

The rear range has three 12-pane sashes to the ground floor and three 2-light casements to the first floor, all under a slate roof. A late-19th century single-storey brick service extension, built with a cavity wall and featuring a planked door and sash windows, is attached to the rear left.

The interior includes an open fireplace with a cambered lintel on stone jambs and chamfered beams. The attic contains planked doors.
