Description
The barn at Goatacre Farm, built in the mid 19th century, features a timber frame and is weatherboarded on a high plinth made of squared sarsen stone on the outside, with brick on the inside. It has a stone slate roof with eaves. The north side has a projecting gabled cart entry with paired plank doors, while the south side has a corresponding flush cart entry with matching doors and a gable above. There is a large later opening on the east end and loading doors on the west end. Inside, the framing includes some bracing and a five-bay double-purlin roof supported by queen post trusses on jowled posts with struts extending to the tie-beams. The trusses have principals that end at collar level, and iron bolts secure the posts to the tie-beams.
