Description

Corton House is an estate house dating from around 1850, constructed for the Poynder estate. It is built of squared rubble stone with a slate eaves roof and rear stacks. The building has two storeys and a three-window front. The windows are flush-beaded, two-light mullion windows with hoodmoulds. Originally they had small panes, though some have been replaced. A central door is located within a large porch constructed of squared rubble and capped with a slate roof, featuring a gable finial and a Tudor arched entry with a hoodmould. Further two-light windows, not beaded, are found on each floor of the south end wall, and on each floor of the south front of the rear wing. A stack is situated at the west end of the building.
