Description
This is a barn located west of Gauntletts Farm, likely built in the 18th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a corrugated steel sheet roof that has hipped and half-hipped ends. The barn has four bays, with a threshing floor in the third bay and opposing cart entrances that include full-height boarded double doors. There are later outshuts added to the front, rear, and side of the barn.
Inside, the barn retains a complete four-bay frame with jowled posts and straight braces connecting to the tie-beams, which are supported by queen-struts leading to the principal rafters. The common-rafter couples are intact and feature straight wind-braces. The wall framing consists of studding with long straight tension-braces.
