Description

Luke’s Farmhouse is a 16th-century timber-frame farmhouse, with a significant 17th-century timber-framed extension added to the west side. It has some 18th-century recladding and a porch, with minor 20th-century additions. The front wall displays exposed timber framing in the upper section with brick infill, while the lower walls are made of English bond brickwork. The west side is largely reclad in brickwork of Flemish bond. The east gable is in Flemish bond with blue headers, and the rear displays the complete exposed timber frame, featuring numerous panels of wattle and daub and some brickwork. The west gable and a west-end outshot are boarded. The house has a steep, half-hipped thatched roof with eyebrow dormers. It is a long, narrow building, originally with one storey and an attic, now featuring two windows above three. It has casement windows. A gabled brick porch with a tile roof has an oval-arched opening, a low plain doorway, and a boarded door.
