Description

The Peat Shed at Bowles Farmhouse is an early 19th-century structure. It is timber framed with boarded walls and features a thatched roof. The front elevation, facing south, includes a flanked door and a glazed frame window, while there is a high-level planked access door at the rear. Inside, the roof consists mainly of pole rafters with only one later collar. The current owner recalls that in 1988, when she was a child, the shed was filled with peat to the roof through the high-level door, which was then removed as needed from the front door.
