Description
Bowen Farmhouse and the attached barn is a farmhouse, likely built in the early 17th century, with a barn connected to it. The house underwent extensive renovations in the 1980s. It features rendered stone and cob construction with a thatched gable-ended roof. There is a stack made of modern brickwork at the right-hand end. The building is two storeys high and follows a three-cell cross-passage plan with an axial back stack.
The front has renewed 20th-century casement windows with fanlights and leading, along with timber lintels to the left of a buttress and a porch that has a thatched half-hipped roof. To the right, there is a new casement window with a timber lintel. Above, at eaves level, there are two 20th-century timber windows to the left, a small square opening above the porch, and another new 20th-century timber window to the right. To the left, there is a 20th-century addition that includes the barn, which is made of cob and stone rubble with a slate roof and gable ends, adjoining at right angles.
