Description
Patsford Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, constructed of shale rubble with cob above. It features a concrete tile roof with gable ends. The original layout was a three-room cross passage plan, although the lower end has been demolished. There is a lateral stack at the rear wall of the hall and an end stack that heats the inner room, which includes a projecting rounded oven. The cottage is two storeys high and has a four-window range, with two- and three-light casements that have glazing bars. A through passage doorway is located to the right, topped with a slated hood. There is also a small single-storey outbuilding that projects from the front left. Inside, the hall has a chamfered ceiling beam with scroll stops, and there are plain wooden fireplace lintels for both the lateral stack and the inner room stack. A staircase is positioned in the rear wall, and most of the roof trusses have been removed, except possibly one that is plastered in.
