Description

Holly Cottage is an 18th-century cottage, possibly with earlier origins, extended in the early 19th century and again in the late 19th century. It is constructed of brick, with a thatched roof. The cottage is one and a half stories, originally two bays wide, with a bay added to the right in the early 19th century and another to the left in the late 19th century. The front of the cottage features a central planked door set within a 19th-century gabled porch with glazed timber and tile detailing. Each bay has two segmental-head casement windows on the ground floor, above which are two-light casement windows. An eyebrow dormer is located above. The roof has a ridge piece and a lower ridge to the added bays, with half-hipped ends. Chimneys are positioned at the right end of the 18th-century section and at the right end. This group value reflects its well-preserved, traditional character.
