Description
Nos 7 and 8 are a 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. The building is timber framed with both plain and patterned brick noggings, topped with a thatched roof. It is a single storey and attic structure with three and a half bays, and features a lean-to store made of brick on the right gable. The layout follows a lobby entry plan, with a central living hall, now designated as No 7, an inner room to the left, and a parlour to the right. The framing consists of three panels high, supported by a heavy bressumer on stone and brick footings, with one wavy and one straight corner brace. The hall and parlour section has been raised by one panel to create a second storey. There is a timber door opposite the stack and timber casement windows. Inside, the property has chamfered spine beams, although the fireplaces were not observed.
