Description

Wedhampton Cottage is probably a 17th-century house, significantly extended in the 19th century. The south section is two storeys high, while the rear section is single-storey with an attic. The building is timber-framed with roughcast rendering, stone sill walls, and brickwork, and has a thatched roof. The original section is a two- or three-bay framed building, set gable-end to the road, with a jettied upper floor. It features a studded timber door on the south side and leaded windows. A further extension on the west side, dating from the early 19th century, is in a cottage ornée style, featuring an open four-bay verandah with flintwork and rustic door and window frames, along with three-light pointed arched dormers. A further north extension has created a three-storey cross wing, combining to form a picturesque group. The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
