Description

CORSHAM CORSHAM COURT ST 8770 5/105 The Bradford Porch in garden to rear of Bath House GV II

Summerhouse, C20 by E. Tew, incorporating late medieval stonework from The Priory, Bradford-on-Avon. Coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and stone tiled pyramid eaves roof with crocketted Gothic finial. Square plan, flush quoins with fine west Tudor- arched moulded doorway, richly carved spandrels and hoodmould. Reused late medieval shield with 2 angel supporters above. C20 single lights to each side. Interior has fine fan-vault and 2 stained-glass shields, also removed from The Priory. The major part of the Priory was demolished 1936 and the reconstruction dates from c1970.
