Description

The walls to the walled garden and the attached gardener's house are from the late 18th century. The walls are made of rubble stone lined with red brick in Flemish bond and topped with ashlar coping. The walled garden is an extensive, roughly rectangular area divided into two sections by a cross-wall, with an additional area enclosed to the north. A wall extends east from the walled garden to the rear of the Bath House, enclosing the north end of the formal gardens. Attached to the south side of the main walled garden is the gardener's house, which dates from 1877. While it is not of special intrinsic interest, it is included as part of the garden complex. The gardener's house is constructed of grey pennant rubble stone with Bath stone dressings, featuring a slate eaves roof and a ridge stack. It is two storeys high and has an L-plan layout with unmoulded 2-light windows.
