Description

This boundary post, located about 250 meters west of Southington Farm, dates from 1840 and is partly in the parish of Steeple Langford. It is a cast-iron T-shaped post featuring a low pedimented capping on its arms. The post has raised lettering that reads "STEEPLE LANGFORD" on the left arm and "STAPLEFORD" on the right arm. This post is part of a series of cast-iron boundary posts and mileposts made by Carson and Miller around 1840, which are found along turnpikes radiating from Warminster.
