Description

This boundary post, located about 400 meters east of the drive to Ballington Manor, dates from around 1840. It is made of cast iron and has a T-shaped design with a low pedimented top to its arms. The post features raised lettering that reads "STEEPLE LANGFORD" across the top, with "LITTLE BATHAMPTON" on the left arm and "STEEPLE LANGFORD" on the right arm. It is part of a series of cast-iron mileposts and boundary posts on turnpikes radiating from Warminster, produced by the Warminster ironfounders Carson and Miller. This boundary post is situated at a location marked by a milepost on the Ordnance Survey map, although that milepost could not be found.
