Description

This boundary post, located opposite the drive to Long Ivor Farm, dates from 1840. It features a cast-iron cross-piece mounted on a wooden post. The right arm displays the name "SUTTON VENY," while the left arm shows "LONGBRIDGE DEVERILL." Below the cross-piece is a shaped section that includes "1840/C & M/W," which represents Carson and Miller, a firm of ironfounders based in Warminster. This post is part of a series of cast-iron boundary posts found in the Wylye Valley.
