Description

This is a row of four cottages dating from the mid-19th century, located on the west side of Greenway Lane in Chippenham. The cottages are constructed from limestone rubble with freestone dressings. They have pantile roofs, with a coped gable end on the right, and brick stacks positioned on the gable ends, party walls, and rear extensions. Each cottage has a simple, single-unit plan with various rear extensions.

The cottages are two stories high, typically featuring a single-window arrangement. They have freestone quoins and raised surrounds to the windows. Window glazing includes 20th-century replacements in Nos. 11 and 13, 2/2-pane sash windows in No. 15, and 6/6-pane sashes in No. 17. The entrance to No. 11 is through a 20th-century lean-to porch on the left return. Nos. 13 and 15 have flat hoods supported by moulded brackets; No. 15 has a 6-panel door. The interior of the cottages was not inspected. Low, rough ashlar walls are attached to the left of each door, enclosing the front gardens.
