Description
3 and 4 The Hamlet are a pair of semi-detached cottages, built in the mid-19th century, and are part of a group of 17 cottages located on both sides of the road. They are constructed from limestone rubble and feature triple-Roman tile roofs with moulded brick ridge stacks, showcasing a Vernacular Revival style. The cottages have single-unit plans with rear outshuts and extensions.
On the exterior, they are single-storey with gabled half-dormers in the attic. There are three forward-facing gables, with the center gable being slightly larger and part of No. 4. The center features paired semicircular arches set in a slightly recessed panel, which were likely former recessed porches now filled in with 20th-century doors. The ground floor has 20th-century windows, some of which have segmental arches. The side returns include single-storey canted bays topped with hipped stone roofs. The interior has not been inspected.
