Description
7 and 8 The Hamlet are a pair of semi-detached cottages built in the mid-19th century, forming part of a group of 17 cottages along the north side of the road. They are constructed from limestone rubble and feature a continuous triple-Roman tile roof with two moulded brick ridge stacks, showcasing a Vernacular Revival style. The cottages are single-storey with half-dormers in the attics and have a three-window range. There are three forward-facing gables, with the central gable being slightly larger and over a slightly recessed panel that includes a timber lintel and timber columns flanking 20th-century doors. The ground floor has 19th and 20th-century two and three-light windows, which are set beneath segmental arches. Additionally, there are single-storey canted bays with hipped stone slate roofs on the returns. The interior has not been inspected.
