Description
The Oxford Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted squared limestone rubble and features a hipped slate roof with a large rendered ridge stack at the center. The building has a double-depth rhomboid plan with additional structures at the rear.
The exterior consists of three storeys and presents a nearly three-window range. It is adorned with pilasters, an eaves band, and platbands between the floors. Notably, there are no windows on the second floor at the front, but there are two windows on the returns. The first floor features 6/6-pane sash windows flanking a semicircular-arched window that is positioned to the right of center. Access is provided by steps leading up to a late 19th-century semicircular-arched door, which has 20th-century glazing at the top. This door is sheltered by a semicircular-arched hood supported by brackets, and it is flanked by 20th-century horned 8/8-pane sash windows that have lintel projections and corbelled projecting sills.
To the left return, there is a late 19th-century lean-to conservatory with six lights, which includes small panes at the top and three narrow vertical panes in each light below, as well as radial glazing in a central gable. The interior has not been inspected.
